Groups

The Aaron Center will host groups to support children and families of diverse ages and abilities in mutually enjoyed play experiences with typical peers. The ultimate goal of the groups will be to offer natural opportunities for children to simply have fun and make friends while engage in creative, energetic and playful activities.

Visually Speaking  is a baby sign language class designed to enhance a child’s speech and language development and improve behavior by reducing frustration This program is great for preverbal babies as it decreases frustration (for baby & parent) and empowers  little one to express needs, wants, and observations through the use of simple sign language. By seeing, hearing, and moving their bodies, babies learn about the world around them. Signing is also a natural way to incorporate vision, hearing and body movement into communication. Visually Speaking is also fun for Toddlers because it is ideal for vocabulary building. Songs, stories and games come to life when your toddler can actively participate.  Children with special needs also benefit from learning sign. Sign language has proved invaluable for children as it gives them opportunities to communicate as they are also developing verbal skills.

The “Let’s taste it” groups provide advice for parents and structure and for those children who are having problems with varying textures of foods as well as problems with independent feeding.  Feeding groups make meal time fun and expose the children to healthy and novel foods.

Mommy & Me & Daddy & Me groups - By spending focused time together early on, you will lay the groundwork for a lifelong relationship based on mutual respect and understanding.

Baby Pilates - class lay-out includes warm-up stretches, Pilates inspired strengthening    & conditioning exercises geared for different parts of the body such as the abdomen and back and a relaxing, meditative cool-down session. Some of the exercises are done with babies, including holding, lifting, and rolling with them, and others are just for the moms, with the little ones placed carefully down. Throughout the class your baby can cry, babble, and even crawl around, as the teacher will have an Assistant to keep an eye on the little ones. The 45-minute class is set to relaxing background music, and takes place in a centrally heated, naturally lit room, with Tea/Coffee/ juice provided after for a chance to chat to the other parents.

Baby massage is one of the most fulfilling form of nurturing you can give your child and builds a bond of love and caring that both parents can experience. Massage provides so many benefits. It aids digestion, relieves colic, eases tension, regulates breathing, and spurs growth. It offers your infant not just the comfort and stimulus of touch, but a full   range of enriching sensual experiences . . . eye contact, a soothing voice, a familiar scent.

Music groups - research shows that music and movement experiences provide children with much more than just musical skill. Through music and movement, children learn how to express their emotions, release energy, gain confidence, build language skills, cooperate with others, appreciate other cultures and utilize cognitive skills.  This class will help you learn how to integrate music and movement throughout your entire schedule.

Asthma Groups - Asthma impacts not only on the child, with frequent episodes of wheezy illness which can be frightening, time off school, visits to the doctor but also on the family, leading to many anxious and sleepless nights. The National Asthma Campaign reports that a quarter of parents are woken one or more nights a week because of their child's asthma and one in six parents have had to take time off work to care for their asthmatic child. The Asthma group provides opportunity for parents and children to play together and offer support and suggestions as how their families cope with the struggles of having children with Asthma.

Motor Groups are designed to develop coordination, strength and flexibility during organized and structured play activities. The groups will be developed based on age’s groups and each group will be especially designed for each age group.

Communication Groups are designed to foster communication between children and their parents. Language and speech skills will be the focus of the group with developmentally appropriate fun activities.

Art Groups are designed to foster creativity using materials children have at home. Drawing, painting, coloring, clay, playdoh, glue and glitter brings out the artist in everyone. Messy and fun is encouraged during these groups.
